Brave Space Alliance (BSA) is the first Black trans-led LGBTQ Center in Chicago. A small, brave group of individuals founded BSA in 2020 to fill the significant gap in advocacy, programs, and services that center and are led by trans and gender expansive people. Unfortunately, few organizations like BSA currently exist in Chicago, especially on the South and West Sides. Rooted in our Four Pillars of Dignity of Health, Housing, Food, and Identity, BSA provides dignified essential services, develops programs and initiatives for individuals and families, co-creates community spaces of care and connection, and conducts advocacy on issues that directly impact Trans, LGBQ+, and Black communities. We strive to empower, embolden, and educate each other as we build toward the liberation of all marginalized people.

We invite you to explore the challenges and

successes over the year!
