Sofía (she/they) is a mixed Dominican-Irish genderfluid femme and proud cat mom. A staunch anti-capitalist and PIC abolitionist, most of Sofía’s work falls within the frameworks of mutual aid and transformative justice. Originally from New York City, Sofía came to Chicago to attend the University of Chicago, where they studied Law, Letters, and Society and Human Rights. Following graduation, Sofía spent time as a Case Manager at the civil legal clinic in the Westside Justice Center, before joining the Development Department team at BSA. Outside of work, Sofía continues to learn and grow with community-based abolitionist organizing campaigns, including the #StopShotSpotter campaign, Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project and the DefundCPD Mutual Aid Health & Healing committee. She is excited to contribute to the important work of Brave Space Alliance and continue to fight for the liberation of all oppressed people.
