Acquiring healthy and sustainable food can be an extreme challenge for many individuals on the South and West sides of Chicago. Food deserts abound in our city, and many individuals and families rarely have the opportunity to go to a well-stocked grocery store.
This is especially true for LGBTQ individuals on the South and West side, who face additional economic violence, and often have to exist at the perilous intersection of living in poverty in a place where fresh food is hard to come by.
To help our community begin to address this economic and nutrition-based crisis, Brave Space Alliance offers monthly programming on healthy cooking, buying food on a budget, and how to make what you’re able to purchase last as long as possible.
Stay tuned for times, dates, and locations of this community-sourced programming!
