$45,000 starting yearly salary, raises based on tenure and performance, eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision after 90 days
This is a full-time role at Brave Space Alliance. Target Start Date of December 1st.
The Development Associate is responsible for assisting in and supporting fundraising operations within Brave Space Alliance, with a specific focus on maintaining and recruiting the small monthly donors that make up the majority of BSA’s support. This position will report to the COO and Senior Development Associate, and work with other BSA staff.
Responsibilities
- Retain existing monthly donors and recruit new monthly donors
- Create a recurring donors program to increase engagement among monthly donors, including potentially authoring a dedicated monthly newsletter and hosting special virtual or in-person events exclusively for monthly donors
- Perform data entry and routine maintenance on our donor database, DonorPerfect, to ensure that our records are accurate, streamlined, and up to date
- Follow up over email and phone with monthly donors whose pledge transactions have failed to process
- Send notifications when gifts are made in honor of a third party
- Manage the sending of tax acknowledgment letters and thank-you notes to all donors
- Assist in scheduling meetings with prospective funders and donors.
- Maintain the accuracy and integrity of databases by ensuring that all information is kept current and up to date.
- Troubleshoot database issues.
- Provide support to various committees and volunteers during fundraising campaigns and events.
- Other duties as assigned by the COO.
Professional Qualifications:
- Proficiency in DonorPerfect or other CRM/donor management software strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with logistical and back-end organizational management
- Willingness to quickly learn organizational practices and procedures, and implement them properly.
- Experience organizing on Chicago’s South Side, especially in low-income and Black communities
- Microsoft Office and GSuite proficiency
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Close knowledge of, and/or involvement in, the trans community of Chicago
- Strong commitment to intersectional justice and trans liberation
- Robust and dynamic problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Job Requirements:
- The position requires frequent internal communication about operations and finances.
- Must be able to work effectively within a community-based environment
