Brave Space Alliance is currently seeking two drivers to assist with our Community Pantry Program Distribution. BSA operates a Pantry Delivery Program as a part of our larger Community Pantry Program for all Chicagoans (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immunocompromised, elderly, and/or disabled individuals prioritized) who need food assistance. Every week, volunteers deliver bags containing staple pantry items and personal hygiene products, as requested, directly to community members’ doorsteps.
BSA also operates a pantry partner network comprising organizations and businesses across the city that help our Community Pantry to provide pantry services for communities beyond our office in Hyde Park. BSA sponsors each pantry partner as its primary supplier. In addition to extra pantry sites, we partner with local businesses and organizations that accept donations towards our pantry from customers and community members.
Drivers will be responsible for completing weekly pantry deliveries via the pantry delivery program, assisting in distributing pantry supplies within the pantry partner network, completing weekly grocery shop runs with BSA staff, and supporting loading and unloading supplies. This role is subject to background and MVR checks upon hiring. All drivers will have gas mileage reimbursed.
